LiDAR Sensor 2D NAV3xx SICK – Long-Range AGV Navigation up to 250 m, 360° Scanning

Overview:

The NAV3xx series (NAV310, NAV340, NAV350) is SICK’s high-performance 2D LiDAR sensor designed for precise positioning and navigation of heavy-duty AGVs and AMRs in industrial environments. The sensor features a full 360° scanning angle, contour detection range up to 250 m, supports up to 12,000 reflectors, and performs real-time onboard calculation of the vehicle’s X-Y position and orientation.

Important Notice: The NAV3xx series is in the Phase-Out stage. Orders are still accepted until October 31, 2026. Recommended successor products: multiScan100 or picoScan100. Please contact AUMI for migration support and consultation.

Product Overview of LiDAR Sensor 2D NAV3xx SICK

NAV3xx belongs to SICK’s NAV navigation sensor family, specially developed for large-scale AGV/AMR systems operating in logistics warehouses, distribution centers, and expansive manufacturing facilities. Thanks to SICK’s advanced HDDM™+ technology, the sensor delivers highly stable distance data over long ranges and performs absolute positioning based on reflectors directly on the device. The combination of reflector navigation, contour navigation, and mixed-mode navigation ensures high accuracy and reliability under varying operating conditions.

Applications of LiDAR Sensor 2D NAV3xx SICK in Industry

  •       AGV/AMR Navigation in Large Warehouses and Logistics Centers: The 360° scanning angle and 250 m range enable comprehensive environmental data collection for positioning and guidance of autonomous vehicles.
  •       Reflector-Based AGV Positioning: Supports management of a large number of reflectors and direct real-time calculation of vehicle coordinates, ideal for systems requiring high absolute positioning accuracy.
  •       Long Aisles in Warehouses and Factories: Long-range detection allows AGVs to identify reference points and environmental features at great distances, optimizing internal transport routes in large facilities.
  •       Automated Forklift Systems: Provides reliable positioning data for pallet pickup, stacking, and movement in high-density storage areas.
  •       Mixed-Mode Navigation: Combines reflector and contour data to maintain stable positioning in environments with or without reflectors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What is the NAV3xx used for?

NAV3xx is a specialized 2D LiDAR sensor for positioning and navigation of AGVs/AMRs in large warehouses, logistics centers, and manufacturing plants.

Q2. Is the NAV3xx a safety laser scanner?

No. NAV3xx is a navigation and positioning sensor for AGVs. It is not certified to SIL or Performance Level (PL) for machine safety functions.

Q3. Does the NAV3xx require reflectors to operate?

For the highest positioning accuracy, NAV3xx typically uses reflectors as reference points. However, the sensor also supports contour navigation and mixed-mode navigation.

Q4. Can NAV3xx replace NAV2xx?

Not completely. NAV3xx is designed for heavy-duty AGVs with long operating distances, while NAV2xx is optimized for smaller, faster AGVs and cold storage environments.

Q5. Has the NAV3xx been discontinued?

Yes. The NAV3xx series is currently in the Phase-Out stage by SICK. Customers are recommended to migrate to the successor models such as multiScan100 or picoScan100.
