General Description of the OLM200 Linear Measurement Sensor

The OLM200 is a complete replacement solution for traditional rotary encoders and cable-based measurement systems in long-travel applications. Instead of using a rotating shaft or brushes, the OLM200 reads a barcode tape attached along the travel path using a red LED, enabling immediate absolute position determination without the need for homing after a restart.

It is the ideal choice to replace rotary encoders in large-scale systems where the travel distance exceeds the capability of conventional encoders. With no mechanical moving parts, the OLM200 ensures long service life and virtually maintenance-free operation – even under conditions of vibration and dust.
